Short answer: Vapi’s usage-only billing combines a $0.05-per-minute hosting fee with provider charges for transcription, the language model, voice and telephony. Its pricing calculator currently shows an example of $82–$129 per month for 1,000 minutes using selected providers; it is an estimate, not a universal rate. Optional Success Packages add support, capacity and service commitments while usage charges continue. Details below were checked on 7 October 2026.
How Vapi pricing is structured
Vapi separates the platform charge from the components that power a call. The Vapi pricing calculator itemizes hosting, transcriber, model, voice and transport. Its billing guide explains that Usage only pays the hosting fee plus provider costs for each call. Your total therefore changes with the providers you choose and with how each assistant behaves.
- Hosting: the Vapi platform fee is listed at $0.05 per minute for Usage only.
- Transcription: billed according to audio minutes and the selected provider.
- Model: billed from input and output token usage. Prompt length, tool definitions and the number of model requests can change this cost.
- Voice: billed by the selected provider, often based on generated characters.
- Telephony: depends on the phone route. The pricing page lists example transport rates for some providers and $0 for Vapi Telephony / SIP.
Vapi’s documentation describes the cost estimator as a comparison aid rather than an exact quote. For a completed call, the call log’s Cost tab can show recorded charges when available. Review real calls from your own workflow before using an estimate as a budget.
What does Vapi’s 1,000-minute example cost?
At the time checked, Vapi’s pricing page shows this monthly example: $50 hosting, $10 for Deepgram transcription, $8–$45 for an OpenAI model, $15–$24 for ElevenLabs voice, and $0 transport for the selected Vapi Telephony / SIP route. The page gives an estimated total of $82–$129 per month.
This range belongs to the calculator’s selected configuration. It does not mean every Vapi customer pays that amount per 1,000 minutes. A different voice, model, transcriber, phone carrier or success package changes the bill. Provider rates and negotiated terms can change too.
Usage only and Success Packages
Vapi’s current pricing page lists Usage only with a $0 start price, $5 in credits, one included Vapi phone number and four concurrent calls. Core is listed at $29 per month and includes higher base limits and a two-business-day response service-level agreement. Pro is priced at 10% of the Vapi hosting fee with a $999 monthly minimum, and Premier is custom. Confirm package eligibility and terms with Vapi, particularly if your account is on legacy pricing.
A Success Package does not replace usage billing. Vapi’s documentation says hosting and provider charges continue; a package adds support, service commitments and higher included limits. Model the package fee on top of the monthly call estimate rather than treating it as an all-inclusive plan.
How to estimate your own monthly cost
- Measure expected calls and realistic average duration to estimate billable minutes.
- Choose the transcriber, model and voice you intend to ship, then use Vapi’s calculator for a first estimate.
- Include phone numbers, transport, concurrency add-ons and any Success Package.
- Test short, typical and long calls. Longer prompts, more tool definitions and extended call history can increase model usage.
- Compare the calculator estimate with actual call logs after a pilot, then update your volume forecast.
For a useful cost-per-outcome figure, divide the month’s full platform and provider charges by calls that achieved the intended result. Also track transfer rate, booking or resolution rate and failed calls. A low per-minute price can still produce a high cost per completed task if the workflow needs repeated attempts or manual repair.
What to ask before you choose
Ask which provider rates are passed through, how usage is metered, what phone-number and transport fees apply, and what support or uptime commitments come with each package. Check data retention, concurrency and any compliance add-on against your actual operational requirements. Keep the answer tied to your chosen configuration rather than comparing headline rates from different provider combinations.
If your goal is a customer-facing phone workflow rather than an API build, also account for who owns number setup, integrations, monitoring and the handoff into your CRM. Sysevo’s voice agents page describes the connected platform approach.
